Workshop: The "Ocean Treasures" & Sea Life Mug August 8 11am-1:30pm

Beat the August heat and cool off in the studio with our "Ocean Treasures" workshop! Inspired by the magic of the deep blue, we are swapping our usual clay textures for scales, tentacles, and sea foam.

In this beginner-friendly class, you will hand-build your own custom mug inspired by your favorite marine life. Whether you want to sculpt a sea turtle climbing over the rim, create a tentacle handle, or simply capture the texture of a coral reef, this workshop is your ticket to a permanent beach vacation in a cup.

What You’ll Learn:

• Slab Building Basics: We will start with a flat slab of clay and teach you how to roll, cut, and assemble a durable cylinder mug.

• Sculptural Details: Learn the "score and slip" technique to attach 3D elements like starfish, shells, shark fins, or octopus suckers so they stay secure through the firing.

• Texture Tools: We’ll use organic materials (like real shells and coarse sponges) to press sandy, rocky, or watery textures directly into the clay surface.

• Underglaze Painting: Add a splash of color before the first firing to bring your sea creatures to life.

What You Get 

• Guided Instruction: A fun and beginner-friendly session where you create the mug from clay.
• • All Materials: Stoneware clay, sculpting tools, and a selection of "Ocean" glazes (Lagoon Blue, Seaweed Green, and Sandy Beige).
• Small Class Size: Limited to just 10 students per class to ensure personalized attention.
• Finished Masterpiece: After the workshop, you will choose a glaze color. We will take care of all the glazing and firing.
• Ready in 3 Weeks: Your finished, food-safe mug will be ready for pickup approximately three weeks after the class date!

• Self-Glazing Session: For an additional $10, you can schedule a separate session to return to the studio and glaze your own mug, adding your personal touch to the final look!
• 22 Karat Gold Accents: Add a touch of luxury! For an additional $20, we will apply genuine 22 karat gold details to your finished mug, giving it an undeniable sparkle.
